If you haven’t ever had magic cookie bars, also known as 7-layer cookie bars, you are missing out!
How is it possible to get so much flavor into one cookie/bar? Chocolate chips, coconut, pecans, graham crackers and sweetened condensed milk all melted together to make a gooey, insanely sweet cookie bar!
Magic cookie bars have been a family favorite for years. My sister always makes them for the holidays, but we love them so much I started making them more often.
Most of the recipes you see online call for butterscotch chips as well along with the chocolate chips, however, I do not always add the butterscotch because I like for them to have a strong chocolate flavor.
Honestly, you could get away with adding white chocolate chips, butterscotch chip or peanut butter chips. Whatever your heart desires to make them 7-layer cookie bars! Just don’t forget the coconut and sweetened condensed milk! I even found a good recipe for homemade chocolate chips!
I love pecans. They are by far my favorite nut and I think they go well with magic cookie bars, but if you do not like them, you can always use walnuts.
This recipe will make about 20 bars depending on how big you cut them, and the size pan you cook them in. I usually use a 13×9 inch pan.
My favorite thing about these bars, other than the fact that they are delicious is how easy they are to make and how you can quickly throw them together for an event with a few ingredients.
